Hello,

This week we have enjoyed editing and planning our final non-chronological reports, designing our final seasonal/rationed meal in DT, lots of extra Christmas singing as well as completing a set of termly assessments! The children have worked really hard this week and should be very proud of themselves.

Our WW2 Christmas assembly for parents is on Tuesday 17th December. Please see the information send from the school office re. tickets for this.

Have a fantastic weekend and see you Monday!

Miss Bairstow :)

Hello,

This week we have continued learning about local history as part of our WW2 topic and learnt all about the Avro factory in Yeadon. In maths, we have been learning about fractions and in English we have been continuing our non-chronological reports.

Just a reminder we are heading into the final couple of weeks to complete a rationed recipe as part of our optional topic DT homework. Well done to everyone who has done one of these and been sending their pictures in!

Have a lovely weekend :)

Miss Bairstow

Hello,

A slightly shorter but equally busy and exciting week in UKS2!

We are still on with our non-chronological reports about the role of women during WW2 in English and learning about fractions in maths.

Mrs Harris delivered another important assembly this week from the NSPCC and reminded children how to stay safe and speak out.

On Wednesday afternoon, the children in UKS2 opened their own and Rufford Park's very first "living museum" as part of our study of WW2. Children were encouraged to bring in any WW2 memorabilia that they have or to present information about their family members from this time and share how they were affected by the war.

We had a wide range of artefacts sent in including:

  • Medals
  • Letters/Diaries
  • Photographs
  • Military uniform items
  • Ration books/Home Front memorabilia
  • Lots of other interesting WW2 artefacts!

Have a look below at some of the amazing artefacts.

Mr Cooke also delivered a special presentation to the children in UKS2 on Thursday morning as his own living museum exhibit where he spoke to the children about his grandfather and read his first hand account of his experiences in the army during WW2!

Have a lovely long weekend.

Miss Bairstow :)
