Hello,
It has been fantastic to see so many of you get involved with our WW2 rationing homework task - thank you for all the pictures I received via email! This week, we had an extra special treat as Ella made a delicious loaf of bread as her "free choice" recipe and brought it in to share with us! We enjoyed eating it during a very appropriate topic lesson on Wednesday afternoon - all about rationing! We all agreed the bread was delicious and much better than a loaf from the supermarket!
Have a great weekend!

Hello!
Not quite as exciting as last week here in UKS2 however we have spent lots of time thinking back to last week's trip as we have been planning our WW2 evacuee diary entries. Next week, we will start writing and publish our final pieces and hopefully be able to share them with you! I have been so impressed with the details the children have recalled from their journey on the steam train and how excited they have been to include this information in their diaries.
In maths, Miss Bairstow's group have continued to study place value while Mrs Trotter's group have moved onto the four operations.
On Wednesday, we had a special PSHE lesson linked to the "Connect Challenge". This challenge was inspired by the friendship that Leeds Rhinos' players, Rob Burrow and Kevin Sinfield, had and we passed a rugby ball around every class whilst sharing quotes from their book, "With You Every Step: A Celebration of Friendship". Year 6 also participated in a mini rugby tournament to launch this activity
.
In other news, we elected our class school council representative this week following the Year 6 Chairperson and Communications Officer elections last week. Well done to all our candidates but especially Emily who won our vote!
Have a great weekend!

Hello,
We had a fantastic day on Wednesday on our trip to the Worth Valley Railway to experience what it would have been like in 1939 for the children who were evacuated to the countryside. Here are all of Year 5 and 6 looking the part! You can browse the full photo gallery here.
The rest of our week has been spent continuing our learning in all other curriculum areas.
Last week we also set the first of our additional homework tasks. All children in Y5 and Y6 have been issued with a rationed recipe booklet and letter explaining this task. This will run all the way up until the end of Autumn 2 where we will announce winners and give out prizes for the most recipes completed! Happy cooking! It has been great to have already had some pictures emailed in.
In school we are always discussing online safety. We have been asked to share the following link to support parents in this vitally important area.

Have a lovely weekend.
