Hi,
We have been really focused on our writing this week. The diary entries the children have completed in the role of a Victorian school child are fantastic and have been the result of several weeks preparation involving, creating a word bank, related reading comprehensions and lots of great discussions. Miss Tidey visited our class this week and was very impressed with both the standard of work and the overall attitude of the whole class. I will be sharing some of the completed work shortly.
I am really looking forward to speaking to lots of parents next week to share what great work the children have been doing.
Have a great weekend. Hope it's sunny.

Hi,
Following our trip to Armley Mills last week, we have been using the experience to plan and begin to write a diary entry in the role of a Victorian school child. We investigated the different type of word classes we would need to use and I have been really impressed with the great range of vocabulary the children have included. The introductions to the diary entry are fabulous and I'm looking forward to sharing some of the completed diary entries on the blog next week.
In maths, we have been using negative numbers and have been solving problems using short division. It was also lovely to see Mr Smith as he introduced the science topic of Forces. We will be continuing this topic with some practical investigations over the next few weeks.
Mr Wood from Benton Park visited Year 6 to inform them about the forthcoming virtual open evening. The children will be bringing home some information about this on Friday.
Have a great weekend.

Hi everyone,
A fantastic topic focused week. We were looking forward to the local history trip to Armley Mills and our visit certainly did not disappoint. Everyone enjoyed being transported to the Victorian era in the roles of a Victorian school child and mill worker. The children learned what it was like to learn in a Victorian classroom and the extremely difficult life of a child working in the mills. I'll let some photos of the day tell the whole story...
Enjoy the weekend
