Weekly Update 17.12.21

Mrs Trotter (l.trotter) on: Maple Tree Class Blog

Hi,

A VERY busy week full of Christmas activities. Year 6 supported the rest of KS2 by singing a few of the songs from the Snow Queen production to welcome parents as they arrived for each of the four performances. The children looked fantastic in their Christmas jumpers and the singing was good preparation for when Year 6  will take part in their own production in the summer.

In class, the children have been designing their own baubles for the class Christmas tree and making cards in addition to some coordinates maths work. Whilst making the cards the children used their measuring skills to create the perfect Christmas tree.

On Thursday, the children enjoyed their Christmas party with games and a selection of snacks.

Everyone has worked extremely hard throughout this term and we are all looking forward to a festive Christmas break. Mrs Senior, Miss Davey and I would like to thank all parents and carers for their support during this term and for the Christmas gifts and cards.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2022!

Mrs Trotter

Weekly Update 10.12.21

Hi everyone,

The lead up to Christmas began this week as we watched the Key Stage One performance of 'Hey Ewe' and put up our class Christmas Tree. It was lovely to watch the nativity performance and Key Stage One did a fantastic job. Year 6 are looking forward to singing some of the songs from Snow Queen to parents and carers as they arrive and leave the Key Stage Two performances next week.

We are still busy learning in the classroom. In maths, my group have been completing the fractions maths topic by learning how to find fractions of amounts and in Miss Bairstow's group the children have been learning about area and perimeter. The children also completed a writing assessment based on the wonderful Anthony Browne book 'The Tunnel'. Some amazing art work has also been completed based on the famous Victorian designer William Morris.

We are all ready for a restful week ahead of a busy final week of term next week.

Have a lovely weekend

Mrs Trotter

Hi everyone,

A hard working, fun and focused week! Everyone has shown an amazing attitude to a range of assessments this week. It has been lovely to hear the constructive and supportive discussions the children have had with each other. Well done!

The children completed their science study of forces by investigating buoyancy with Mr Smith

We have also enjoyed continuing to learn songs from the Christmas production of The Snow Queen.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Trotter
