Weekly Update 8.3.24

Mrs Trotter (l.trotter) on: Maple Tree Class Blog

Hello,

As promised, a few photos from last week's visit from the adventurer James Ketchell.

This week Maple Tree Class have been busy writing their newspaper reports about the arrival of a Yeti on the school's trim trail. In maths, my group has been working on their shape vocabulary and measuring and calculating angles.

On World Book Day, the children enjoyed an author visit from Phil Earle and moving to different classrooms to listen to a story of their choice.

Next week, I am looking forward to sharing the progress the children have been making so far this year with parents.

Have a great weekend

Mrs Trotter

Weekly Update 1.3.24

Hi,

Maple Tree Class enjoyed their time with the explorer James Ketchell this week. The message of resilience throughout the different challenges that life involves was well received by the children. They also enjoyed tasting dehydrated chocolate chip pudding, sitting inside James' tent and one lucky member of Maple Tree Class tried on real explorer's clothes (even though they were a little big for them!) - photos to follow next week.

It was great to see parents/grandparents/carers at the Peat Rigg Residential meeting this week. Thank you for the prompt return of the parental consent forms. Please could the few remaining forms be returned on Monday. If you have any further questions about the trip please do not hesitate to contact myself or Miss Bairstow on our class email addresses.

Enjoy the weekend

Mrs Trotter

Weekly Update 23.2.24

Mrs Trotter (l.trotter) on: Maple Tree Class Blog

Hello,

A shorter but busy week to start the half-term.

In English, the children have been identifying the features of newspaper reports as they will become journalists next week. Watch this space........

In maths, my group are beginning the maths topic of area, perimeter and volume. Miss Bairstow's group have been working on fractions and decimals.

Just a reminder that next Tuesday 27th February at 3:30 there is a parents/carers meeting about the residential trip to Peat Rigg. Please do not worry if you are unable to attend as the children will be bringing home all the relevant documentation today. Please can the parental consent letters be returned by Friday 1st March.

Have a great weekend.

Mrs Trotter
