Hi,
This week we have been busy practising for our Y5/6 Christmas assembly which will be at 9.30 on Wednesday. Tickets will be going home today.
Your child's homework this week is to learn all the words to the songs for the assembly!
We have also completed an independent piece of writing about the Avro Factory in Yeadon during WW2. In maths, we have all been completing work linked to fractions.
Have a great weekend.

Hi,
This week we have been reflecting on everything we have learnt so far this year by completing a range of assessments. I have been so impressed with the hard work and sensible attitude of all the children in Ash Tree this week whilst completing this work.
Please remember the Y5/6 Christmas assembly will be at 9.30 on Wednesday 14th December where we will be sharing some of our work from this term and singing some Christmas carols. There will also be tea/coffee and mince pies for parents/carers! Please contact this office if you have not yet requested tickets for this.
Have a great weekend.
Miss Bairstow :)

Hello!
This week in school we have had lots of talk about the World Cup! In Ash Tree we have all picked a team out of hat to "support" throughout the competition and have been updating our wall chart with scores daily. Today, the children enjoyed getting into the spirit and coming in their "active/sports wear" as a reward for contributing towards the Christmas Fayre which takes place tomorrow. Hopefully lots of you will be able to attend!
In English, we have been finishing our work linked to "The Piano" animation. I have read some fantastic descriptive pieces this week and have been really impressed with the vocabulary used.
In Maths, Miss Bairstow's group have been finishing their work on multiplication and division before moving onto fractions next week whilst Mrs Trotter and Mrs Senior's groups have been continuing their work on fractions.
The highlight of our week though has definitely been our topic work! We have been focused on the local element of our WW2 topic and have been learning all about the Avro factory which was located just up the road near the current Leeds Bradford Airport. We learnt about what was made there and the impact this factory had on the war effort. We found out the Yeadon Avro factory alone produced over 600 Lancaster Bombers which were a key part of the British air raids on Germany. We then had a go at making our own models of the famous Avro Lancaster Bomber!
Have a good weekend.
