Weekly Update 26.4.24

Miss Bairstow (d.bairstow) on: Maple Tree Class Blog

Hello!

Last week was a very short entry due to the Y6 residential to Peat Rigg. We had a fantastic time and they were a great group to take. During our visit we shared some of the highlights on the school social media pages but have now uploaded a complete gallery in case you would like to see ALL the fun we had! You can see the full image gallery by clicking on the link below.

We have been busy writing thank you letters this week to the staff at Peat Rigg and the teachers that taught the rest of Ash Tree whilst we were away.

We have also started reading our new guided reading text "Who Let the Gods Out?" by Maz Evans.

Have a great weekend!

Miss Bairstow

Hi

Year 5 have had a mixture of teachers this week with Mrs Amos, Miss Simms and Miss Atkinson.

For Year 6, this week has been all about the residential to Peat Rigg.

The children have had a fabulous time and have represented the school brilliantly.

Weekly Update 28.9.24

Miss Bairstow (d.bairstow) on: Maple Tree Class Blog

Hi,

This week we have had lots going on again!

On Tuesday afternoon some members of Ash Tree who play a musical instrument visited Pudsey Civic Hall for a Music Prom event. Year 5 had a road safety workshop delivered by Leeds City Council's Safer Roads team. On Wednesday, the whole of KS2 visited St. John's church where Reverend Richard told the Christian Easter story. On Thursday, the Friends of Rufford Park were in school organising the "egg-citing" Easter egg scramble!

Busy, busy, busy!

Alongside all this, the Scholastic book fair has been in school all week and a team of Year 6 children have once again taken over the running of this event. The takeover team have done a brilliant job and we have had another record breaking year. Thank you so much to everyone who supported us with this event as every book sold helps us raise money for books for the school library.

After Easter, we have had a slight change to our timetable and Ash Tree will now have P.E on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Have a fabulous two week break and I will see you all in the SUMMER term!

Miss Bairstow :)

Weekly Update 22.3.24

Miss Bairstow (d.bairstow) on: Maple Tree Class Blog

Hello!

This week we were absolutely blown away by the amazing performances of Oliver!. Year 5 did a spectacular job of leading the show and having the main acting parts and we are so proud of them. Here are the Ash Tree Year 5's in character:

Year 6 also had a busy week with some Year 6 children visiting Benton Park for a basketball event on Tuesday afternoon. The children going to Benton Park in September also had a visit from the head of KS3, Mrs Collins, on Wednesday morning and received a booklet with lots of information about their new school. As we head into the summer term there will be lots more transition information being shared with your child so please look out for this.

The Scholastic book fair is in school next week so please come along and browse the great selection of books. School earn "rewards" back for each book sold and it really helps us replenish our library stock. The book fair will be in the hall Monday - Thursday after school.

Have a great weekend.

Miss Bairstow :)

Weekly Update 15.3.24

Hello,

Another very busy week in UKS2. Year 5 have spent lots of time rehearsing for next week's performances of Oliver! It sounds amazing and I can't wait to see it next week!

Alongside rehearsals it has also been assessment week so the whole class have worked really hard to show off everything they have learnt this year and how much progress they have made.

On Tuesday, we had a PSHE workshop delivered by SCARF (the scheme of work we use for teaching PSHE) all about the importance of decisions. The children contributed lots to the session and were very sensible when offering their views and thoughts.

Information for Y6 parents:

The government have published a document with information for parents about the upcoming SATs. If you would like to learn more about the tests please click here.

Have a great weekend!

Miss Bairstow :)
