Hello,

This week Y6 have been busy rehearsing for their upcoming leavers' production most of the week! Y5 have been finishing their fantastic leaflets all about Yeadon Tarn. Y6 have also been given their Bikeability groups for next week so please check with your child to find out which days they need to bring in their helmets/bikes if applicable.

The Y5 children from Ash Tree Class had a fantastic time this morning completing an art workshop led by staff and sixth formers from Benton Park at St Oswald's School as part of the annual ALPT art exhibition. This year's theme is "Yorkshire" and this morning we created some "Yorkshire tapestries" inspired by the work of artists Grayson Perry and Nigel Peake. The exhibition is open over the weekend at St Oswald's Church in Guiseley and features work from all schools in the ALPT as well as the work we created today. If you get chance please pop in and see our work! Click here to see some of the highlights from our workshop.

Have a great weekend.

Miss Bairstow :)

Hello,

A big part of our week this week has been creating our submissions for the annual ALPT art exhibition. The theme is Yorkshire this year and as a school we have decided to focus on David Hockney. Check back next week to see pictures of our work all backed and displayed.

Y6 have again been busy with their production and making a start with their "grow a fiver" projects.

Have a lovely weekend!

Hello,

Another busy week - we will probably be saying this for the next 5 weeks!

In English, we have been continuing to write persuasive leaflets for either Yeadon Tarn or Peat Rigg. Y5 have completed their final assessment week of the year so well done to them! Y6 have been busy starting to look at scripts for their production and making a start with their "grow a fiver" projects.

We were lucky with the weather on Wednesday for sports day and will upload some pictures ASAP.

Have a lovely weekend!

Hello,

We have had a great first week back!

In English, we have been writing persuasive leaflets for either Yeadon Tarn or Peat Rigg. In Maths, we have been measuring angles and looking at profit and loss. We are well underway with our guided reading novel, Darwin's Dragons and have started our new art topic - birds. We also had some rugby coaching sessions this afternoon delivered by White Rose rugby which will be continuing throughout the half term.

Sports Day is next Wednesday so please keep an eye on the weather and send your child with the appropriate resources.

Have a lovely weekend!

Hello!
Ash Tree class have been busy this week completing their DT project "Automata Animals". Our design brief was to create a collection of moving animal models to captivate people's interest and raise awareness of endangered rainforest animals. The children worked in pairs throughout our two DT build days and demonstrated amazing teamwork during this challenging project!
You can see a full gallery of our finished products here: https://www.ruffordparkprimary.org.uk/classes/year5-6ash/automata-animals-2025-ash-tree
This morning we also took part in an orienteering session and learnt lots about mapwork and had to utilise our teamwork skills again! Some children also went to a Triathalon event today with Mr Spence and Mrs Senior.
This has been a very short but very VERY busy half term... we can't believe when we come back we will be entering our final half term of the year!
Have a great break and see you soon :)
