Hello!
Another short week has flown by in Pear Tree.
In English we have started our new focus text 'Lila and the Secret of Rain'. The children have been writing predictions about the story based on pictures from the book and writing thought bubbles as the villagers who are facing a drought.
For our third lesson in our 'Let's Sculpt' Art topic we learnt about the sculptor Barbara Hepworth. The children worked in groups to create their own human sculpture which then made an abstract family inspired by Barbara Hepworth's work.
In Topic we looked at the 54 countries in Africa. The children enjoyed copying this song which listed (almost all) the countries in Africa: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0F2PiVP_FI&list=RDG0F2PiVP_FI&start_radio=1 The children then worked in pairs to label 6 countries (Morocco, Egypt, Kenya, Madagascar, South Africa & Nigeria) on their own map of Africa using atlases as support.
