Hello,
In English this week we continued writing our biographies about Dr Thomas Barnardo.
In maths, Miss Bairstow's group have been multiplying fractions by integers and fractions and Mrs Trotter's group have been converting improper fractions to mixed numbers and vice versa.
The choir have been out this week and are again next week and the UKS2 football team have a fixture again tonight. Lots of things going on and lots of children representing school in different ways once again!
Have a lovely weekend :)

Hi,
In English this week we did some more work on features of a biography and started writing our introductions about Dr Thomas Barnardo.
In maths, Miss Bairstow's group have been adding and subtracting mixed numbers and Mrs Trotter's group have been looking at equivalent fractions.
In topic, we learnt about Victorian punishments (we are very grateful after that lesson that we live in 2025!).
In PSHE, we discussed the importance of tolerance and respect.
Have fun at the Christmas Fayre tomorrow - sadly I can't make it but I am hoping I win a raffle prize!
Have a lovely weekend :)

Hello,
A shorter week this week to make room for our training day tomorrow.
In English, we have been researching Dr Thomas Barnardo and starting to write biographies.
In maths, Miss Bairstow's group have been adding and subtracting fractions and Mrs Trotter's group have finished multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 and have also moved onto fractions.
In topic, following on from our amazing "jigsaw" work on child labour in the Victorian era, we learnt about the inspirational people who helped change children's lives. See the images below to have a look at our "jigsaw" posters we created in our lessons before and after half term (unfortunately I forgot to take the pictures before they were on the wall!).
Have a great long weekend!
Miss Bairstow :)

Hello,
Another busy week in Year 6!
We have been busy researching Dr Thomas Barnardo in English as we prepare to write biographies about him and his work with poor Victorian children.
In maths, my group have continued learning about fractions while Mrs Trotter's group have been focusing on square and cube numbers and multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000.
Lots of children have taken part in extra curricular activities or represented the school this week too with cross country on Thursday, a cinema trip on Friday and parent show arounds as part of open day on Thursday! Busy, busy, busy!
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Bairstow :)

Hello and welcome back!
This week we have enjoyed writing, editing and beginning to publish our mill inspired poetry in English.
In maths, Miss Bairstow's group have started a new unit - fractions! Mrs Trotter's group have been learning all about multiples, factors and prime numbers.
On Tuesday afternoon we made a poppy wreath to mark Remembrance Day next week. Each class in school has made a different wreath and we are looking forward to seeing all of the others in Mr Cooke's assembly on Monday.
Here is a picture of ours:
Again, enjoy any late bonfire celebrations safely this weekend and see you all next week!
