Weekly Update-6/12/24

Posted: Dec 6, 2024 by: Mr Kyriacou (n.kyriacou) on: Beech Tree Blog

Hello everyone,

This week, the children have been doing a range of assessments. Everyone worked very hard on these and the results are very promising.

In writing, the children have completed writing their four individual stanzas for their Winter themed poems and completed their first draft of the entire poem. The children have worked very hard on these and I’ve really enjoyed reading them.

In maths, we have continued with multiplication and division, and this week, we have been looking at the 12x table, focusing on fluency, reasoning and problem-solving lessons.

In our reading, we are extremely close to completing our class novel, The Thieves of Ostia, which the children have absolutely loved reading. This week, the children finally found out who the culprit was behind all the murders that have taken place and learnt about the reasons as to why this character committed these crimes. It was lovely to see the children connect the clues that have been left throughout the book and make accurate predictions about they thought it was. We shall be completing the book over the last two weeks of term and as the children have enjoyed the book so much, they are requesting to read the sequel novel as part of our story time book after Christmas.

Take care,

Mr Kyriacou :)
